I am looking also into upgrading equipment, and wondering what is the best zero turn for the money. I looked at a husqavarna today and was wondering what people think of them. everybody around here seems to be using toro`s or ferris. the ferris seems to be a really good mower with the independent suspension. just would like some advise from people that have used these comercial units.
thanks

I just got a husky 4218 this year and have no problem with it so far. The only reason I got mine was they offered it to me for $4,500, 3.9% for 36 mths. Gonna make the final payment in two months. Was looking at an exmark but they wouldn't come down in price. Cuts like a champ.

Hard to beat the Exmark.
If your looking for the best ZTR for the money, Just wait until one of the Scrubs Go under and pick one up for a 50 cents on the Dollar.
I have had Scrubs come to me after the season is over and offer them cheap.
I've never owned a Ferris but I have a buddy in the business and he Claims its the Caddilac of mowers. I like the Exmarks because they are Compact, Fast, and easy to work on. Keep in mind you want to use equipment that there are plenty of parts for. I like to buy after market parts. They are in some cases 1/2 the price as dealer's.
as a matter of fact you can request a catalog for free from the suppier I use at www.j-thomas.com they ship anywhere. They carry every thing from 2 stroke oil to Major ZTR parts.

Hi dan,
Glad you found j-thomas, they do have good prices. I live 4 miles from them and didn't even hear of them for about four years. I used to go down the street and pay the double price for blades and other parts.
I do like the grasshopper unit. I don't think you can go wrong there!
When I started out, I always wanted the diesel unit but ended up with the exmarks cuz my local guy quit selling them. However he did bring in the new line of Kubota ZTR's.. He tells me that Kubota did there home work on this one but haven't heard anything from any one else.
Do you have the diesel units?

I checked on a Hustler Super Z 25hp 60" and a Ferris IS3000ZX Extreme 27hp 61" and was surprised to find the Ferris was $150 cheaper. I also looked into Exmark's but the local dealer is way too proud of them and has them priced beyond my reach.
The Ferris looks like an awesome machine.:D
In my area (Western NY) Ferris is the most popular mower. It may be on the expensive side but in the long run it's worth it. A Ferris independent suspension ztr gives you one of the best cuts. Most other riders that I've tried seem to scalp too often. Just some helpful advice!
