Changing oil- Need suggestion

Upon purchasing the Great Dane Super Surfer I have since found that performing regular maintenance is extremely aggravating: some grease fittings have no clearance from the frame to be accessed (maybe an inch) and the oil drain screw is maybe 1/2" from the deck with nowhere for the oil to go but all over the deck, the blades below and eventually my garage floor! Please help...

Find out what size the pipe plug is where you drain the oil.
Go to local hard-ware and purchase the same size pipe and fittings to relocate your drain. Don't forget to get pipe dope for the threads.

You can also get differen't grease fittings (90 or 45 Degree) to screw in place of the one's you cant get to. If you have a straight shaft grease gun you might want to get a replacment flex hose for it.

Green is good !!

Sometimes we are too close to the problem to see the solution. Have you ever puzzled over a problem for hours and then had someone else come up and show you how to do it in seconds? Frustrating, but it is the new perception of the problem from another person. That is the value of forums such as this, we can borrow one another's perception of problems and solutions. Everyone wins in the long run. How do you like the Super Surfer so far? JD

Yeah another's perception was the cure indeed and as to the Surfer itself, in the beginning I had some peculiar problems but the dealer seems to have fixed them all of course under warranty. It cuts nice, blades adjust easily, fast, and user friendly. Problems: after a few hours of straight cutting, the legs begin to really hurt and its about that time I see another LCO pass by with sit-down ZTR!! Oh well, I should just count my blessings...

OK, here is the information on the type of pump we were talking about earlier.
The following is direct from an advertisement.
Al-Ko Service Kit
Al-Ko has released a kit designed to remove used oil from small engine sumps. The MSK Service Kit has an easy-to-use, hand-operated vacuum pump, similar to a large bicycle pump. A flexible tube is inserted in the oil cap and the hand pump plunger sucks up all sump oil. The waste can then be easily ejected into a disposal bottle (suppled).

The MSK will make an ideal service/workshop tool.

alcpi, what size Surfer did you purchase? I demoed a Wright Stander & found steering on bumpy terrain very difficult, had to slow down to a crawl. Had a fixed deck which was a pain in the azz to change height on. Also the wide opening on the back looked dangerous.

I bought a 48", and yes it too gets a bit bumpy on uneven ground, but nothing extreme. Blade adjustments are quite easy and fast and as for any danger, the frame protects suffiently from the blades as long as your not doing anything careless. Problem: I've taken this mower back to the dealer approximately 5 or so times for the same problem- blades shutting off for no reason. Great Dane reps weren't to helpful or interested in the problem either.
