First of all, it is NOT too early to be thinking of snow removal, your timing is about right.

There are a lot of ways to charge for snowfall and asking how the "boat floats" for your area is good, but remember, during a large storm you will need to push THRU or during the storm and that will have to be paid for.

The best scenario is to get guaranteed money, push or not, but it is difficult to do unless you are already their full service provider for a large commercial site.

Good Luck and keep those wheels turning!

DO a search on here "snow removal".....should bringh up a bunch of threads. I rememeber someone posting a "pricing schedule" based on how many inches of snow fell (for residential customers...i.e. driveways, sidewalks....etc).

What you charge ... how you charge ... rates charged ... and (who is charged these different rates) all vary because ... of the extreme importance of protecting people from slips and falls on walks and in lots ... be sure to talk up SAFETY ... it IS the main selling point when selling snow services ...

Example ... identical same size lots at a two building apartment complex ... one building has all college students ... the other building has elderly retired folks who are fearful of falling down and breaking a hip! ... get the picture?

Each bid for snow is "custom crafted" and should be ... there are some basic "starting hourly rates" common numbers ... to use. From $100 to $150 per hour in some markets ... but that's where the commonality ends ...

My company used to plow snow and do walks at the main hospital in town ... 24 hours, 7 days a week ... 3 shifts ... two trucks "left" at site 24 hours a day (dedicated) ( and under no circumstances would those trucks ever move from the site ... not even for more gasoline!) for the hospital account only!!!!!!!
