  • Bad Pump?

This is my first post, I appreciate any help and gives thanks in advance.

I have an Excell 2500psi power washer with a Honda motor.

I'm suspecting some sort of seals are bad - (or maybe the whole pump).

The power washer starts right up and runs fine for about 10 minutes, then steam (or smoke) starts to seap from holes around where the pump meets the motor. It builds quickly. After shutting the unit off suddenly there is a burst of smoke that comes (almost like a small explosion).

Wait an hour, can start it up and runs fine for another 10 minutes.

I did note the oil was milky, I drained and replaced the oil with the same result.

Is my power-washer fried? It's about 6 years old, if it's a cheap fix I'd fix it, otherwise I might as well spend another $300 for a new one (vs $150 to fix the old one).

    Anysight is much apprecaited.

    Thanks again,
    Justin
