  • Will this computer be good enough for business?

I'm looking for a small laptop that I can take with me and give to an accountant, or whatever.

Here are 2 "net" computers that seem to fit the bill, but I'm no expert at all on computers. Both have Windows XP installed.

One has 120 or 160Gb hard drive, the other has an 8Gb solid state drive. I've sen 12Gb solid state drives for these small computers, but I'm not sure if I need it.

Here's the one with the hard drive:

And here's the one with the solid state drive:

Question: Can anyone educate me on which one would be best? I'm looking for something to run Quickbooks Pro, and Microsoft Office. And possibly a light weight photo editting program that doesn't need much power.

Is there something else out there that I might be missing?

    Thanks.

Okay, I have $200 worth of Best Buy gift cards and just found this one on their site. Is this unit much different than the ones I just posted?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I picked up this model last October. Its holding up pretty good. The onlything it lacks is a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM or any of that. The worst part and it still bites from time to time is keyboard is 85% the size of a laptop keyboard.

I like the built in wifi and all that. There are also ample USB slots. For the money its an excellent purchase IMO.

They are all pretty much the same. Mine has the solid state hard drive. Should be more reliable But in 12 years owning my own computers I have only had 2 hard drive failures on a Dell Laptop. Mine came loaded with XP home. And a trail offer of MS Office. So I installed Open Office and Firefox.

Yeh, I know you it doesn't have the drive on it. But can you put your program on a flash drive and install it that way?

I figured I would buy the external drive if I had too, they're cheap. I wouldn't need it very often at all....only when loading the couple programs I would put on the computer.

So Lindblom, would this be something you'd recommend for business stuff on the go? Nothing crazy.

I guess I would also install some type of virus protection as well. I'd junk most of the programs on it, and install a few things.

Or should I just get a full sized laptop? I really don't use a computer anywhere near it's fullest, so I figure a full sized 4 gb RAM, 350 gb harddrive, etc is just over kill for what I actually intend to use this for.

Yes I would recommend it for business use. There are not that many programs on it to begin with. It is loaded with McAfee.

For business stuff on the go, Yes. Without a doubt. Its nice and compact, light, and decent battery life.

The dell laptop I,m looking at is inspiron 15 4gb memory and 320 hard drive. My desk top is getting old and memory is about done I run quick books and I need it in the car and I doubt I would get another desk top so I am really getting it to replace the desk top. How does that sound?
