My partner is now convinced Echo equipment just doesn't hold up as well when compared to Stihl. All recent 2 cycle equipment purchases this year have been Stihl. RIP Echo. :alien::alien::alien:

That's interesting, seems everyone switched away from Shindaiwa here over the last couple years. Now it's primarily either Echo or Stihl. Coarse Stihl is best. :alien::alien::alien:2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and future 2015 LSF RECEPTED AWARD recipient!

I dunno the current total, but was told at the beginning of spring we'd be mowing around 200 per week, a handful of these being large commercial properties with over five acres of turf. The Echos took a quick 5h1+. The Stihls live on, even the old beat up FS80 I bought on ebay back in my kolledge days. :alien::alien::alien:2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and future 2015 LSF RECEPTED AWARD recipient!

i have no idea what I'm gonna get next year (need some new pieces).
Echo's seem to have odd/random parts break and aren't comfortable to use (except b/p blowers). All dealers either have parts in stock or within two days.
I love my Redmax stuff but forget it when I need parts.
Shindaiwa is nice but they don't have a light trimmer like the Redmax 2350 and I have a feeling eventually they will be fazed out into only Echo (same with Redmax to Husky from what I've been told).
Don't care for Stihl engines.
Only other nearby is Dolmar and I don't know of anyone who really uses them yet.
I have a feeling it's gonna be Shindaiwa/Echo just for ease of getting parts (mostly due to employees ). Keep the Redmax for just my use.

The only parts I replace of the Stihl trimmers are throttle cables from time to time. Rarely even change the filters. Never change the spark plugs. Oh, and an occasional primer bulb. I did have to replace a clutch spring the other week on one unit that was 2-3 years old. Obtained that from our parts junk yard. Like I said, these are used extensively. My partner even installed a brush cutter blade on our oldest Stihl unit (he doesn't know that though) and yet it had all the power to knock the brush down. Meanwhile, all the Stihl blowers have been problem free for years. To each their own, but for me, Stihl has been rather impressive. :alien::alien::alien:2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and future 2015 LSF RECEPTED AWARD recipient!

I hated sthil blowers. I have a few shin eb630's in my parts bin that I might resurect over the winter. Going out daily are redmax 7500 and 8500, shin 8510 and 802. Shindaiwa had the best trimmers ever made (T-260) but the damn tree huggers screwed that up. I now have a Tanaka in the line up that is strong but slightly heavy, three redmax, and 4 shins that are getting to the point of not making it through next year. I will give sthil a chainsaw vote (029 super and 3 ms 290's).
