  • Echo Power Edgers

Anyone have the PE-230 and like it? I was in the market for an edger and this was all that was left in my town. We had 3 dealers and one went under. That left the dealer who has sold me everything else to date and the hardware store that has a lawn mower and saw shop. My dealer quit stocking a lot of things (I think he got over extended and is now trying to fix it) so I was off to the hardware store. Got the only edger they had, the PE-230. I think for maintaining an edge this will be a cake walk but for creating a edge in overgrown conditions it really stinks. I have to maintain a lot of downward pressure and pull it back to cut an area several times....

Am I doing this wrong or is it just not all that strong a unit????

I have the same unit and a 260 unit. The 230 is ok for regular stuff like you said. The 260 will cut through anything. I love it.

Too bad I was set to get one that day. I love the stronger commercial equipment. Anything less and I think I have a weed eater type of thing from the local Wally Mart.

i got the 260 and if i go 15 to 20 cuts i ain't got no blade left. the blades are cheap. replace them after 3 or 4 cuts. trimmer should be used for edges after you clean them up.

i change mine after about 1000 linear feet. up here that is about 4 -10000 sq/ft yards with driveways and sidewalks. i am talking ones that have not been done in a couple of hundred years or so.lol. after that it is all trimmer.
