I was just wondering what you all think of scag mowers and the v-twin kawasaki engines .. i just got a 52" SCAG advantage with the kawasaki and a 61" comercial with a vanguard B/S i dont like B/s but it seems to do well, i really really like the 52 built very well and quick, high rpm of blades, and really responsive controls .. i have had 2 48" husqvarna hydros they where idenical other than my favor. one had a kawasaki engine (the same one that is on the 52 and my old cub) and for some reason it's wheels where spaced out 2" on each side on the back. i have also had a 48" husqvarna belt drive zero turn, look like the hydro's, Nice for beginners, its motor was the best thing but small,it was a kohler pro 14... and the only other 2 mowers i have had recently was a husqvarna riderZ zero turn and a cub cadet comercial. eventually i put the elect. start kohler pro 17hp on the cub in place of the kawasaki cause it kept going through pushrods . but i love those kawasaki v-twins when there right i have had them on my 3 fav. mowers the 48"cub the 48" husqvarna with the spaced out wheelbase and the new 52" SCAG (the best i have run yet) .. also my G/F dad that owned and still helps run the business said one of the lightest and best for banks mowers hes had was a RANSOM.. i duno cause i wasnt there but i would love to know where to find one if anyone might know about where to find them...... hes been in business. for over 18 yrs and started with a passenger car 2 weed eaters and a push mower lol and has had all kinds of walkbehinds and weed eaters.. hands down the best yet is the husqvarna weed eaters and the SCAG mowers... if anyone knows where to get scag orange paint to touchup and repaint my mowers over the winter please let me know its a bit lighter than huqvarna orange.. So why the bias against Briggs? Those new Big Block engines are sweet.

Really..? I'am not familiar with the new briggs. I just had residential mowers before and hated the performance but they did last a wile and i have had 2 newer briggs ...somethin tech or ..i duno.but i had it on my commercial mowers and they didnt hardly last a season. but this vangaurd seems to be holding up well and the performance isnt bad at all! thanks -Charlie-RLC-

Kawasaki cant be beat. They're reliable, easy to get parts for (if you ever need them) and they are a heck of a lot more powerful than the others. Its all a personal preference but the Kaw's are really good motors and are on probably 60% of equipment for a reason.

Neither of the Scag Dealers near us carry any with a Briggs Engine. There is only one with a Kohler at either dealer. All the other mowers have Kawasakis. We are trying to decide which one to get but we almost have to choose Kawasaki.

I wouldn't buy a mower with a briggs motor on it just not built very well. My machines all have kawasakis on them and they are great. My new toro 62" has a 30hp Kohler and so far so good.

I have a Kaw 29 DFI on a Scag TurfTiger 61 Advantage deck and it is a real work Horse and it is lean on the gas does not really guzzle it like I thought it would Thought that I wanted to try the B/S 35 HP till I found out that they really LOVE GAS since Scag has started puting the Kubota diesel in the Turf Tiger I think that the next one will buy will be the Kubota powered one . By the time that my wife lets me the will have proven themselves one way or another But 1 in 05 an another one in 06 so I am good for a while she said LONG WHILE .twj
