  • The Beast mower sold at Home Depot?????

Has anyone ever used the Beast mowers sold by Home Depot. I checked them out a little bit and they seem a little less then commercial.
Next year I'm going to be buying a new back up mower and thought this may be an option. Any opinions or comments would be helpful.
    Thanks, Georges lawn

Any mower from Home Cheapo will need a backup mower it's self.
Buy a good used commercial mower.

No........ They are sold under the Stanley name.

GXi Outdoor Power, LLC, markets them to Stanley from their parent company in China, Fuzhou DEK Power Co Ltd.

Yeah......price on commercial mowers means very little with you think about it. Spend more and (generally) the mower is made better, wider cut, better engine, etc. It (should) last longer than a cheaper offering which allows for more ROI.

So you buy one of these damn Chink mowers off the boat. You think you're off great because you saved THOUSANDS! Yet one week mowing commercially and something or things break on the mower. Where the hell are you going to find parts and/or a servicing dealer? I don't think HomeCheapo will do **** for ya...probably get a story of "well that's too bad, here is a 1-800 number." :alien::alien::alien:

Kinda reminds of the local auction house that used to sell hundreds of those Chink import motorcycles/scooters/gocarts that were damaged in shipment each week. I doubt these mowers would be any better.

‘Diesel’ is what makes the best mower…

The specs are far from junk and at HD the engines are 22hp Subarus. The hydro gear drives are the same as everyone else.

However, there isn't a comment on the mower deck to be found anywhere. There is no cross reference on the parts so availablity would be direct from the manufacturer. Most dealers would probably work on it, but may charge a premium because they have to special order parts from a new supplier.

A bigger question may be where do you get parts in 5 or 10 years. The older it gets only widely sold or very well supported products still have parts availability. If you are going to turn it into scrap in 3 years, probably not a problem. If you keep your deck maintained, change oil every 50 hours, hydro fluid annually, use sharp and balanced blades, your 5 year old mower has some resale. What would the resale be on the 'Beast'.

The US brands fabricate the frames and assemble here, but virtually all the components and the steel is sourced from abroad. China has 7x the steel production of the US.

yes, specs - serious: 31 kawi, 7 gage steel 62'' deck, 18500 fpm blade speed, 15'' front tires, 10 mph mower; 9640 lbs
front frame square tubing - like on first generations exmarks (light) - if necessary can be replaced with bit bigger ones (bolt-in part)

parts: engine - kawi31 - available; hysros - Hydrogear BDP - same; bearings, bushings, pulleys, belts, bolts - SAE standard

if our OEMs still think - it's not a serious statement - they should think again and come with solutions NOW- or face extermination
