  • Simplicity or Toro riding lawn mower

I’m thinking about getting my first commercial riding lawn mower this year. I’m looking at a 2009 Simplicity Champion (new) 20 hp kohler twin, 44” deck with bagger for $5,000.00

    Or the Toro Timecutter (74626) SS4260(new) 42” deck w/bagger for $3,500

How do these mowers compare? The Simplicity looks like its made better but the bagging attachment looks small. It has the fan that chops up the grass and shots it into the bag. But the tube looks narrow and the bags look small like they won’t be able to fit much before filling up and the price seems high.

The Toro looks like it’s made cheaper. The bag appears to be bigger but doesn’t have the fan to chop things up before blowing into the bag. But I like the price better.

There’s also a Toro Z 100 (44” deck) with 18 hp kohler and a Dump from the seat vacuum bagger that I might consider if it’s good. I haven’t looked at this one yet because it’s on craigslist and 40 miles away.

How well do the bagging systems work and is there I difference in the quality of the cut?

My trailers are only 5 feet wide so these mowers would be a tight fit with the bag on which is why I’m looking at the smaller decks.

I have a 36" Yazoo kees walk behind and a 48" Exmark walk behind that I've been mowing with for years. Now I'm looking at the riders.
