  • exmark 60" or 72"

just sold my jd 4200 compact tractor. i'm looking to buy a quality ztr and after doing a little research, i have decided to go with exmark Lazer Z. i mow approx. 6.5 - 7 acres three or four times a month. Should I go with the 60" or 72" deck? Will the quality of cut suffer with the larger deck? Will the larger deck require more maintenance? Also my dealer recommended the 27 hp kohler engine. Is this enough power for the 72" deck? Should I have any other concerns? Any help and info. is appreciated. Thanks!

All I can say is I hope I'm not too late to stop you from purchasing a Kohler engine. They suck! Peice of sh%$. Unfortunatley us Americans can't make a quality small engine. I've owned two Kohler's now and thet both have broken down several times. Funny thing is I'm a maintenance freak and they still broke. Peice of sh&%. Worst small engine on the planet!!!!!!!!! DON'T BUY A KOHLER! Good luck and go kawasaki all the way!

I use a 72" watercooled 27 Exmark. I use it mostly on ballfields, factories, and big yards. Plenty of power. It does not cut as good on unlevel places as a smaller mower does. I always keep a smaller mower on the trailer. Unless you doing alot of flat stuff I would get the 60"

the land is flat and smooth with few obstacles. How long will it take to mow with the 60" vs. 72" ? thanks for the replies!
