  • toro commercial or honda commercial?

O.K. everybody I have a question that I would like answered. I know everybody has their favorites but if you were in the market for 4 new commercial mowers and you had it narrowed down to to types which one and why? Comfort/groundspeed/bagging/reliability?...I have owned both and like both, but they both have their pit falls also, I just cant decide which to buy again?......HELP.

    Honda -

Reliable, durable, very easy bagging system to use. If ours ever dies, I'll buy another one.

I have 2 John Deere JX75's & JX85 with the 6hp Kawasaki's and I would buy another hundred if I needed them. They cut perfect, bagging is a sinch and mulching is beutiful and ConsumerReports rates this mower at number 3. see attached link....

Sorry but i would not trust consumer reports for any thing!!

I would take the Honda, because of less problems mechanically.
I mulch w/ the Hondas and have had good luck.

I have to disagree, The Honda's I have seen at some lawn shops in the back waiting for repair. No way. I have a close friend who is a small engine mechanic for a local dealer. He said he would buy a craftsman before a Honda. He has about 20 to 30 units in his shop consistanly. Plus the Kawasaki is a much better engine in my opinion. Thats why they are in almost every mower manufacturer out there. But hey to each his own. If consumer reports doesn't work for you. Look at what the general public says.

epinions.com is also a place i do not trust, half of the people on their have not bought the product, they are just reviewing it.

I worked at a local shop for many years, and had fewer repairs on Hondas than Toro. they also new how to put the engine on correctly unlike John Deere. working on the Kawi. engine on a Deere is a joke w/their deck chute.

I had comm. guys bring in their Honda Comm. mowers that they had had for 10 years and they were working fine. I dont think you can find a better built Comm. mower 21" than the Honda.

I would take the Toro a distant 2nd, and that would be the only Comm. 21" i would buy.

I have not had any problem w/my Comm. Hondas for the past 5 years.

I've heard from lots of people that the Honda doesn't mulch worth a damn. O/W it's a good mower. Toro is good all the way around. These people giving it a distant second don't really say why. I have an '87 which still runs good.
