Our company is looking to purchase a Lesco 48" hydro walk behind. I would like as many opinions as possible on mowers. When I owned my own business (5yrs.) I had a Scag and 2 Bobcat mowers. Both were belt drive walk behinds. I loved them both and still have the one Bobcat (which is now about 8yrs old) which is running great still. We prices from all around on Scag, Exmark, Encore, Ferris, Bobcat, and Lesco. They are all about the same price, however, the Lesco seems to be the least expensive. I have never used a Lesco mower. They look well built. I can't find anyone to talk to about Lesco mowers to get a comparison. Any advice on Lesco mowers compared to other brands on the market would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!![8D]

We picked up a used beltdrive lesco 48 inch this last september the mower cuts great. It sure lays down a good stripe. We have scags to and the cut on the lesco might be just a tad better.
As far as reliabity goes i dont know yet. we got it late in the season so next year we will see how reliable it turns out to be.SOME OF THE FINEST THINGS COME FROM SICILIA.

Go for the Lesco!!
I own a 1998 48" Lesco Belt Drive and a 2002 48" Lesco Z-Two ZTR, both are AWESOME machines and cut better than any other mower I've used. They last a long time, my 98 has over 2000 hours on it and its still starting on first pull! They stock every part for their mowers and I've never had a problem with service or reliability!
Good luck!Steve

Buckeye,
Yes I bought the 98' used. I bought it from a guy that quit the business when he got out of college..
I have used: Toro, John Deere, Scag, and Lesco mowers.. I like the 21" toro recyclers and the Lesco 48" ZTR and WB.. I didn't like the Scag walkbehind and their ZTR is too expensive.. I tried my friend's 60" JD 757 ZTR, and I loved it, just way too expensive.. Toro's mowers are also very nice, there just isn't a dealer very close to me (about 45 miles). I chose Lesco because they are built well using quality parts. Lesco also stocks all parts and offers great service. Lesco is 12 miles away from my house.. And I really like the Kawasaki Engines, they run great! They also stripe better than the more expensive mowers I demoed..
I would base your decision on what the dealer offers to you and how close the dealer is to you.. Lesco, Toro, Exmark, JD, and others are all great mowers, you just need to choose the one you like best!
Good luck!Steve

First I would like to say that this is a Great forum!
This is the first time that I have been on a forum and seen nothing but good things about lesco! Lesco mowers are good. So what if mtd makes them. They use all the engines that all there other mowers use. Now as far as there 21†mower, I don’t like there design. But for the 32†and up there great. This summer my old boss call me and ask if I would like to go back and work for lesco in my area. Anyway we were talking and he ask me if I would like to buy a 48†hydo unit with 65hrs. on it. 1500.00 with free delivery . He’s 500 mile away and was coming to my area for a meeting. Anyway I am still kicking myself for not getting it!

Before I was a member on this site, I have never heard of Lesco, and I doubt there is a dealer close to me. I've never seen (actually seen) an LCO with one. Mostly, I've heard good things on this website about them. It sounds to me if you would be able to have a dealer that would support you well during breakdowns and is near you, it'd probably work out great for you! I hear a guy can get a good deal on one too.

If they are all pretty close to price then look more for quality than "the cheapest". Remember, your the name, so skipping on quality of machines that will earn your reputation and living is not a good idea.
I've heard some good things about LESCO mowers, and many bad things. You should demo several to see which you like. I wouldn't hesitate saying nothing will compare to the cut quality of an eXmark. Even more than that, no other company has nearly the customer service from the factory of eXmark.

Looking for feedback.
I am in the market for a 36" or 34" stander mower. I am considering Lesco, Wright, and Great Dane. I demoed a used wright because i cant afford a new one. However, that was not the mower for me. I visited the lesco dealer and was very impressed with their 34" stander, the price is right and it seems to be very well built. I havent demoed it yet but I would like to know if anyone has any feedback on this mower?
