Onan P218G Pre-Cleaner

I have an Onan P218G 18HP engine in my Lesco ZTR and am looking for a precleaner which is cracked. It sits on the top of the air intake and is a plastic tube-like thing with a metal top screwed down with a wing nut. Onan wants about 50 bucks for a new one and was hoping to find the part cheaper somewhere else. Anyone have any suggestions on where to buy Onan parts? Or can I just put tape over the broken area of the pre-cleaner? Thanks!

Part replacement is the way to go, Tape will only make it worse.

You can try to find the air cleaner part at another Onan parts dealers. In most cases they are all close to the same price on parts.

I would not gamble on a piece of tape keeping dirt out of your 18 HP Onan engine, $50 is a lot cheaper than purchasing another engine due to dirt ingestion causing premature engine failure!

Your very lucky you found the crack before it did serious engine damage.
