I cut residential yards as a second job in the evenings and weekends. I am having a problem with some of my customers not wanting to get there grass cut once a week. Some are saying they cannot afford once a week. When I gave them a price the grass was not growing as fast and once every two week was ok. I do not use contracts when I give out prices I don’t feel I am that established to do so. Does anyone have any suggestion on what to do when a customer is trying to stretch you? Should I tell them it is going to double in price now that the grass is longer? I know this is happening to other people because I went to give a new customer a price. She told me she fired her last guy because he wanted to start cutting once a week and she told him she could not afford it. She also told me that he is starting to do a bad job. My thinking was that it looks like he was doing bad work because her grass needs to be cut once a week not once every two weeks. I have some yards that I have to pass the mower over it 2-3 times at different height to get the yard looking good again. I don’t think that is right for a maintaining price. Could someone help me out please?
