Best Way to Differentiate Yourself?

I'd like to see some discussions here on how to improve competitiveness and grow the business. We all know how much competition is out there and I am interested in how people are standing out from the crowd and keeping margins up? My particular angle is that I am a certified/degree holding horticulturalist. Some people just want a lawn cut, but others want a yard maintained and that is where my background really helps. What about you?

Here is one for you....'total home maintenance'...you go to the house anyway so why not perform all scheduled maintenance at the house. Replace furnace filters once a year. Change oil and oil filters on cars as scheduled. Wash cars on a schedule. Etc. What do others think?

I try to be the "Green Guy" by promoting the fact that my techniques cause less emissions and fuel consumption. I also try to 4-cycle equipment whenever possible because 2-cycle run dirtier.

I also promote the fact that I service my equipment regularly, i.e., sharpen blades, change airfilters regularly, and keep my equipment tip top so it causes less emissions and is overall more efficient and do a better job on their property.

Some lawn care guys around here don't seem to care about general maintenance on their equipment. So that might give me the edge and stand out.
