    What is a good brand and model for washing siding, 2x per year. Prefer electric, but not required. What pressure? What features (wheels, soaping, etc).

    Unless you want to pay $1000 bucks i think most electric pressure washers are capeable of a measly 1.8- 2gpm at 1500 psi.....So if you insist on electric you`ll be working 5 times as long to do the job of a mediocre gas unit...

    You could get away with a gas home depot special that will push 2.5gpm at 2500 psi for $300 or so.....

    Cleaning power for pressure washers are measured in cleaning units...

    The formula to compare how easily the machine will clean is multiplieing the gpm X psi....

    gpm= "gallons per minuite"..

    psi=(pressure) "per square inch"...

    The best $500 electric will say its rated at 2 gpm, but usually will only flow 1.5 gpm... They will usually squeek by close to the rated gpm ,which is usually 1500 psi.... Typically 2 h.p motors

    Electric pressure washer : 1.5 X 1500= 2250 cleaning units.... Piddley

    The cheap $300 gas powered pressure washer at home depot with briggs power 5 or 6 hp engine will usually flow the rated 2.5 gpm and push the water at the rated 2500 psi...Actually produces 5 or 6 hp...

    Gas pressure washer : 2.5 X 2500= 6250 cleaning units..Workable

    This $300 gas unit will work fairly well for the homeowner that is just cleaning the sideing ,and other toys around the house ....

    The electric that costs double will have to be used with a very narrow spray pattern which will require much more time to do the same work as the gas that can opperate with a broader spray pattern .....

    Kinda like compareing a electric mower with a 8 inch cut, to the gas mower with the 22 inch cut.....

    Other oppinions will vary............Good luck,TRANS......

          Home Depot has a new machine there that has a 7hp Suburu engine putting out 2.5gpm at 3000psi. It's $498. I am going to go get one next week, unless some of you guys think it's not a good deal.

            if you're using it only 2x a year, just rent one. If you're using it to wash equipment and vehicles daily, you don't need anything more than a 3gpm machine. If you're going into pressure washing biz, get a min of 4gpms @3600psi gas and if you can afford a skid go with that.
