  • mechanical failure/ ins./pls help

.ok I had a an engine failure in my truck. The oil pump failed and we were on the highway by the time I got it to the side (you dont stop in the middle of the 95 down here trust me) the main bearing was knocking. I used to build engines as a hobby I know the bad sounds...Mechanic called to confirm a D.O.A. 5.7 liter ford. Is it common to try to get insurance to cover a mechanical failure like that?. Normal wear and tear too mind you in fact I had less than twenty miles on an oil change . (Yes I got under neath and checked for loose plug went up top fine clean oil at normal level.)the truck is registered business am calling agent tomorow but wanted to see what you guys thought , any experiences? advice?Am renting a damned uhaul tomorow to help cover my a$$..
Ironically I sold enough landscaping jobs last week to cover all expenses for this week. Funny, kinda.
As Always thankyou for any help.

this is what warrantys are for, no insurance will cover it.

the oil change being that close to the failure I would scrutinize it for clues especially if it was done by a shop--this is your only chance.

    was it done correctly?

was the truck filled with oil?

    was the correct filter installed?

Kinda reminds me of the time i flushed and filled my 1/2 ton (anti freeze) just to be a responsible owner. Next day the diaphram blew on the water pump. Guess the new (thicker) anti freeze wasnt what the Dr. ordered for the old thin diaphram in the pump.

Just curious?,,,, How many miles since your last oil change before this one?

I really dont know what causes oil pumps to go out. I know sometimes a shaft breaks. Woody would be the one to ask,, or perhaps transman.

I do know however that no insurance policy will cover this loss. This one youll have to eat alone. Best way to handle these situations is fast and decisive. Than put it behind you.

      You owe on the truck?

Wash your car and it has a better chance of breaking down. I went to Walmart and filled up my yukon with gas. Drove 5 miles and needed a new fuel pump. sucked lost a day of work.

That sucks. At least you planned for the rainy day before it got to you.
