  • I need help with a bid. 3 acres.

I live in South Georgia. I need to place a bid on this property soon.

    Few trees
    3 acres of level grass.
Needs to be mowed 3 times monthly.

I need a breakdown of what you would charge each month for a 12 month contract. She wants a Contact price and price per cut.

Its just alot of grass thats it.

    Thanks for your help,

3 times a month? eck, I can't stand 10days cuts, just because it always falls differently on your schedule. Try to turn it into a weekly cut for slightly less cost, or everyother week for more. What size machine are you using? If it's 3acres open, and you have somethin like a 60" machine, should take under 2 hours unless you have to double cut it. As for price, all depends on what your costs are. I dont have anything that big so I cant say on price (if I knew it was gonna take around two hours, I would prolly charge close to $100, tough to get higher prices in some areas here). Just my opinions on everything else.

I was think $125 per cut. Or $300 per month (12 months a year). All I have is a 48 in walk behind with velke but I'm buying a 52 or 60 in in the spring. I am estimating 3 hours each cut with this unit. Does this price sound right?? Any advice would be nice.

        $125/cut x 3cuts/month = wouldn't that equal $375?
If you look on the exmark website, they have a productivity chart. You could get an idea at what mowing speed will cut x-acres per hour.

          Heres agood one!

Right now we are 1 week into a about 3 week gig at a very upscale res. Current customer,, i ve had the apps and mulch, spring ,fall, all that crap for years. Never cut it though. Never inquired.

Was sitting in my truck yesterday,,, the mowing crew pulls up. She began to explain to me that the company was bought out,,, yadda yadda yadda. And that she dont like the new owner. Asked me if id ever be interested in the cut? Asked her how theyre service was,, cause i think they do a good job,,,always have. Well she aknowledged that. So i suggested she just hold on to them,,, but asked what they charge? $75 she says.

3 acres mowable for $75? Told her i couldnt touch it. I would be about double. She said they cut 6 times a month. So i told her we could probally work something out under those circumstances.

But my point was ,,,, $75 per cut? Gimme a break!

i hear ya. A friend of mine was getting outta the business, so I picked up some accounts. He wanted to give me all of them. He had one that was a little over an acre that he was cutting for $35! I said no, I can't make any money on that. He had a bunch of big ones like that. And the thing was, when I would work with him sometimes when he needed help, I would bring my 36" along, and he would use his 42", and it would still take just over an hour. I told him the price was way to low, he said 'that's the only way you can get the work'. That's one of hte reasons he's not doing this any more.

Thanks for the replies I cut everything on a 10 day cylce so it works out very well. I don't have customers up my a$$ if I show up a day early or a day late. I am going to give her a bid for $315 for 3 cuts and blow driveway when needed in winter.

I don't really no my exact mowing season as it changes alittle. Most people mow till Nov15th and start back in February. Bermuda is almost dorment now though.

I need a price for 3 acreas worth of mowing and 20 min worth of weedeating and blowing. I live in Statesboro GA.

She wants a 12 month contract for mowing 3 times a month. Understanding that mowing will only be done during growing seasons.

I would bid $130 per cut. 12 month contract price would be $260 per mo. based on 24 cuts during the season.

Hi all... 9 year employee of WorldCom and was riffed... 2 week employee of Pervasive and my job got outsourced to India. I am back in business (as I was in college) in the Lawn Care industry making a raise every week instead of once a year (tired of depending on someone else for a paycheck!). Different locations (was in Missouri, now in Austin, TX) and many years later have made me a little rusty on bidding. I have already picked up a few commercial accounts, but one has me wondering...

It is a very high end condo (approx 254,000 purchase per condo 58 units) with about 3 hours of mowing and an 1 1/2 hours trimming/edging/blow cleaning the property. I am currently charging 200 per mow, and have been doing it weekly. I am by myself for this job, and figured a price of 45$ per hour. This is a friend of the family so to speak, so I definatley want to make sure I am not overpriced.

I apologize for the open ended question (as I know there are alot of circustances to determine the price), but was hoping one of you seasoned professionals could give me your advice!

Thanks everyone...and great info here in the forum... (my proud first post...)
