More Questions about Contracts
I know that there was a post earlier this year sometime with some examples of the written contracts that some of you use. I've not done contracts with my customers in the past, but several new customers that I added this year have given me no choice. One of the ladies I did a small landscaping job for paid me 10% down, and then short changed me nearly 1K, for 4 months.......GRRRR!! It makes me mad that people are so unaware that we've got payment deadlines to meet too. I just about took her to court, and then after that threat she payed me. Would it be ok if I only made my new customers sign a contract and leave the rest of my customers, or the customers I personally know would never leave me hanging to stay out of a binding contract. I tried the search feature to see what I could come up with, and didn't find much that was useful, if anyone could post or send me a pm, with a format that works well for you, or an example I would very much appreciate it. I don't have the financial means right know to hire a lawyer to make out the contract for me, so I'm going to try and use one that is already made. My main reason for using one is to say that if the customer cancels midway through the summer, they need to pay for a month of service until I'm able to fill their spot, or give two paid weeks notice.
