Start now and don't stop until September. Do this every season.

      Hi thompsonlawncare,

Congratulations on your new baby! That's great news!

As Allan said, you should try to market all year long. Not just at the beginning of the season. Even if you hand out the same flyers to the same customers twice early on. The more they see you the better.

PASSING out to many flyers is a waste of time, ur only wasting money to pass out thousands of bussienss cards to get maybe one or two calls, the best thing to do is put bussienss cards in tennis clubs, barbor shops, grocery stores, things like that, and give some to the people you already work for and offer them a week free for ever customer they get you.

I never stop advertising. I just try to make sure that my business name is seen all year. I don't advertise as much in the winter, but as of last week I am starting up in the local newspaper again and I am checking on the local cable advertising channel. Most of the local LCO's don't do snow removal. I do and it definatly helps keep my name out there. Most of the customers I do snow removal for have hired me to their lawns in the summer. It seems they like to deal with only one person.

Not to judge what you are saying, however isnt putting business cards out in stores the same thing as passing them out? Last time I checked, you can print flyers for about $.05 per copy x 1000 = $50. Depending on where you get your business cards made - that can range between $30 and $70. Plus on flyers you can put more information on it than a business card. So if one potential customer calls, and lets say you charge $40 per visit or $160 per month, the flyers have paid for themselves. Plus if you get a 1% return rate on 1000 flyers that equals 10 new customers = $1600 in new business per month.

I used vistaprint a few times in the begining. Really good for free....somewhat limited in selection and they do print a real small adv. tag with their web. address on the bottom of the back side. Think I paid $6.95 Shipping.

i spent more for the custom design, i'm happy with the way they turned out. how about this idea tho.. i'm gonna get the 250 free plus shipping, but they are gonna read somewheres near the bottom "7th cut free with yearly contract" and i'm gonna distribute them as i do my flyers, and see what comes of it. if it works i can get more, i wonder if there is a limit on how many free ones you can get.. i've been handed one of the free ones b4 and the small ad on back isn't that noticeable, and the card looked better than most.
