  • Advertising on truck & trailer

Can I advertise on my truck and or my trailer without getting in trouble? I have heard that you should'nt until you are Inc. or LLC. I was just going to have signs made for the trailer. Thanks for the info.

Do you not have a business license? If not, that would be the first thing to obtain, followed by insurance. Then worry about signs.

Who ever said you couldn't advertise unless you started a corporation was incorrect.

In reality, you don't need anything to advertise on a trailer.

Now on a truck? Some states might require that the truck have commercial tags.

I just started this late last season. I'm working on the Ins. Only have one quote, waiting on the other two. Who would I talk to about the licence? The town that I live in? Any idea on the cost. Thanks Mike

Call your local Chamber of Commerce. Tell them you want to start a small biz in lawn care and ask them what you need to do to get a biz license.

I haven't seen any sign ordinances applying to trucks and trailers. You can advertising anything that is legal on a vehical. Heck, you can even sell billboard space on a vehical: County Transit systems do it all the time. You can even be paid to advertise on your vehicle by big corporations who want rolling billboards.

But if you are an unlicensed business in your state who isn't in compliance with local business requirements, then you proceed at your own risk. If you are doing a commercial enterprise without commercial auto and liability insurance, be prepared to have D E E P pockets.

Our trucks & trailers are "rolling bill-boards"...its a great form of advertising due to the exposure of the vehicles. We receive numerous calls from that kind of advertising ( we always ask how they found us ). Always a + to hear a customer say they found you from 1 of your ways of advertising.

In TN a business license isn't required to advertise but comm tags and trailer tags are. if you are in any commercial business and have signage on vehicles or trailers both had better have the correct tags or the TN Hwy Patrol will want to talk to you here.
