hello all. heres a marketing idea. bout two weeks ago i signed my son up for little league baseball (which so happens to be with the same league that produced the L.L world series champs in 2002). i asked them if they accepted team sponsorships & of course they did. they gave me my own billboard on the outfield fence & my co. name & # on the backs of the players jerseys.i couldnt ask for better exposure because i drive past the fields & theyre always packed with parents,fans,etc..on top of this i sponsored my friends kid & her soccer team (ymca). they too are putting my co. name on their jerseys & doing a write up on my co. to put in a brochure that they send to over 15,000 homes in the area. both of these sponsorships for mere "pennies". moral of the story, check your local little leagues for sponsorships.

Does anyone do cold calling to pick up customers? I talked to a guy who did this in the Ohio valley and he picked up thousands of customers for fertilizing this way. He ended up selling all his clients to chemlawn for x amount of dollars.--- Chris

By "cold calling" you mean good old fashioned door to door? That is my fav. way to get more jobs if I have the time. In the winter I do tree removal, just look for dead or ugly trees in people's yard and offer them a free bid!Originally posted by chriscampbellDoes anyone do cold calling to pick up customers? If I see a promising property in the summer, I like to stop and at least get to know them, then offer a competitive bid.

I meant like having a few telemarketers in a room making calls and seeing if they are looking for anyone to mow their lawn this summer. Then you can try to schedule a free visit with them to give them a estimate. I have never heard of anyone doing this in the lawn maintenance industry. Has anyone tried this approach. Thanks. You better make damn sure that they are not on any state/federal "Do Not Call List" before you dial the number...
