    Hey guys what do you guys think of this deal, when a customer calls me ill tell him or her if he or she can get three other customers(relatives, friend, neighbors, ect.) to sign up with me for summer lawn mowing ill give him or her lawn mowing for the season for only $75

    First of all, I doubt that it would work and second, if it did work, it would put you out of business. It would take about 20% or so straight off the top which would decrease your profit by about 50% or so. Unless I misunderstood you, it is probably one of the worst ideas that I have heard.

    How about you just do a little more advertising and charge a reasonable price for quality work. If I was in the market for someone to mow my lawn, that is what I would look for. If you came to my door with your little gimmik, then that would be a sure way to loose a potential client.

      I am plaining to have the same offer this summer. I am still working on getting all my customers but after I see I have a few openings I'm going to send out a letter informing them of the limited time offer. The person they refer will have to be with the company for atleast 3 weeks. Then I give them a $25 gift certificate to where they want ie. Kohls, Jewel-Osco, Target. You can also use it as a write off as a gift to customers.

        Not bad ideas but ur gettin to complicated, just give them bussiness cards and tell them for every yard they get you, you will give them a free mow, that way you will not be losing more money than your earing

            I posted somewhere else. This idea from last year.

            This worked for me.
            the 5th mowing is FREE.

            If they sign up with you for 5 mowings you give them the 5th mowing for FREE.

            Fine print 1 free mowing per season per house.

            When you give them a price to do the job ADD $5 to what you would normaly charge. If you normaly charge 30 for a yard charge 35. the first 4 mowings paid you $30 the free mowing paid you $20. if you keep them all season you have gained an extra $5 each time.

            Also I offer a discount to people that can get there neighbors to all use my service. $5 off there lawn if they get me accounts close to them.

            For Example: " Normaly I would charge you $35 to mow a yard like yours, but if you get Joe across the street to let me mow his at the same time I will mow yours for only $30"

            The more in one area = less Windsheild Time.

            If you offer free mowing if they get there family to sign you that is not good.

            Think about it how close do you live to your family. My closest reletive is 5 miles in any direction most are in different citys and countys.

              i've passed out 400 flyers so far and gotten two accounts to sign on.

              in the month of march i offer a free lawn service and if a friend signs on that customer get a one time 50% discount on their yard.

              some people disagree with giving anything away free, but the question is, is it really free.

              yesterday this lady called me and wanted me to give an estimate for maintenance. agreement was made. she told me she had a freind who might be interested, so i go over to her house and she wants all kinds of stuff done. she needs her whole backyard landscaped. i would say a few thousand dollars worth of work.
              all this was because i gave some one a 30.00 lawn service for nothing....

              everyone has their own way.. just go with what's working.
