Hello... I am 17 and just starting my own lawncare business this summer. I will be using a bobcat 60'' 31hp ztr ride on. I have most of my equipment all together and am just putting mywebpage together for advertisemnt and am working on doorhangers and the like. I have listed below my price guides, they may be cheaper than the rest, b/c i am tryin to build my clientel up 1st. Please give me feedback on my prices and the like... thanks ---- carlton


These are my rates for the 2005 season..

RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY (Including mow, trim, and blow)


1/8 acre: $20
1/4 acre: $25
3/8 acre: $30
1/2 acre: $35
5/8 acre: $40
3/4 acre: $45
7/8 acre: $50
1 acre: $55
Over 1 acre: $55 per acre + $20 for each additional acre.
Example: 3 acre lawn would cost $95.

These are only estimated rates. Your quote may be higher or lower depending on the amount of obstacles and time involved.

COMMERCIAL PROPERTY (Including mow, trim, and blow)

1/8 acre: $30
1/4 acre: $35
3/8 acre: $40
1/2 acre: $45
5/8 acre: $50
3/4 acre: $55
7/8 acre: $60
1 acre: $65
Over 1 acre: $65 per acre + $20 for each additional acre
Example: acre lawn would cost $128.

¼ acre= 10,890 square feet
3/8 acre= 16,335 square feet
½ acre= 21,780 square feet
5/8 acre= 27,225 square feet

7/8 acre= 38,115 square feet
1 acre= 43,560 square feet

i realize those are just estimates, but that is hard to even do with that if you have a lawn with a lot of beds to go around or if you have a lot of trim work. I'd have to say i would be close on a lot of those prices if not a lot of obstacles.

You have taken yourself out of half of those lawns i would say by the mower that you have. Most lawns under a half an acre won't be able to be mowed by a machine that is 61" wide. And at 17 years old you can probably rule out the commercial because it will be hard to win the bid due to lack of equipment. To maintain properties with any acreage you need alot of free time and bigger equipment for cleanups...i.e. a dump truck to haul stuff away. Plus alot of the residential customers I deal with do not like massive riders on there lawn because it leads to rutting and tearing up the turf.

ahlgrenlandscaping, i will be using a 21'' selp pace toro on smaller lawns and also i plan to buy a 36-48'' w/b mower in a few month... so i believe this will not be a problem with the massive riders, like you said above... Also i have a chevy 1500 w/a 8' bed for hauling also a an 12'x8' trailer... but thanks for the input... any input on these prices?

the prices look great man, but i got a little input, first how did u get all of this stuff, second no commercial property is gonna let a 17 year old mow for them, third how many yards do u have now that would require that big of a mower

I agree with Southern Green you must be one very independently wealthy kid to afford that kind of equipment right out of the gate just on speculation with no customers signed yet. Just the mowers alone your looking atleast 15,000$. All the power to you if you can work it but my advice start out with a very nice hydro walk behind since you seem to have the money. The price per lawn is exaclty what i'm charging.

my dad bought the mower for me... bought it new from a dealer who is also a friend of the family.. dealer got the mower from the manufacturs as a demo.. and sold it to use for what he paid for which was $6,800... great deal w/only 2hrs!


could some1 give me some prices on a nice hydro walk behind maybe 36-48'' cut... thanks

hey how do u get $128 for an acre commercial lawn and u say trimming and blowing is included in price. what do u get for your hourly service.

sry for the error on the commercial rate... i meant to give an example of 3acres for $105, is this an accurate rate?

hourly rate i'm tryin to make $60 an hr or more.... i'm always hoping for more, u know how that is
