  • Help with a bid!

I need a little help. I'm new this year and I'm bidding my first Sub. division tonight. It's just the entrance of the sub. and it has fencing all the way down both sides so thier will be a lot of trimming. I know if it was a res. what I would bid. But I wanted to know if most of you bumped your prices on somthing like this? If it was a residetal I would bid it at $45. I was thinking uping that about 20% or $54. I really want the job, so I'm willing to do it for $40 but I don't want to be a scrub. Thanks for any and all input!
It's full of leaves right now... what would you bid the leaf clean up at?

it depends on where u are here in houston i charge around 45 per hour or per acre but again it depends on what equipment you have if you have a 52" mower that will save you time also all the trimming if you have a bunch of pine trees to do, do you have helpers? make it 45 per man hour not just yourself that way when you pay your workers 6 or 7 bucks an hour you have money to pay for something that breaks down and still be making money i dont have workers but when i do get the help i need i charge 45 per man hour at least.

No helpers, just me. Ok. I can live with that. It will take me abbout an hour. I have a 48" C.C Tank. It will mow easy but the ther trimming and all will take some time. Thanks for the help. I'm located in Northern Indiana.

I bid jobs by what I need to make per hour. This is where it's important to know your overhead and operating costs. I try to bid everything at $60/hr, but in the real world it usually comes out to around $50 to $55/hr. Also keep in mind that when you bid a common area like that you also have a bunch of people to please. Even if you stipulate in the contract that you only deal with 1 POC (point of contact) that doesn't stop everyone in the subdivision from calling him/her. You may also want to figure into the bid all the extra trips you may be making to that job site.

Thanks!!!! What other trips might I have to make. Very good idea about the POC. I will add that to the contract right now. As soon as I do the clean up would you put a sign in the entrance?
