  • Sub-Contracting Lawn Services

I've been an operator for a while, but am now interested in setting up a "temporary agency" type of sub-contracting service. Basically, I will contract work through print and cable advertisements, bid on it, collect payment directly from my clients, then farm the work out to and pay sub-contractors.

I'd like to know if anyone else has/has had, such an operation and, if so, how successful is/was it? Also, if you have operated such, what advice do you have?

    Thanks,

    - kl

I think this is doable ... own the rights to the work, have others do the work ... but I think you should consider setting up a "separate company entity" and call yourself a "property management company" ... that is seen "not to compete" with the contractors who will be awarded the work.

I am 15 years old and have 16 weekly customers and I allso do clean-up work and landscaping. Many of my customers ask which company would be good to spray there lawn or do there bigger landscaping jobs, so I was thinking of forming some alliances with the larger companies in order that my company isn't overlooked because it only provides limited services to customers. What would be a good percentage to charge the sub-contractor for doing the job. I could even allow them to place a banner on my trailer as an added bonus(which would in tern raise the reputation of my business if of coarce the company with the banner had a good reputation). I am thinking of sub-contracting my winter maintenance customers as well.
