billing customers

If i ever get started in this business,what is the best way to collect money from first time customers? Bill them,collect at time of service or what?

i take cash if i dont know them for the first week then if they want u back its monthly

If always ask the person how they prefer to do it. I like to just bill them myself. If it's only a one time job like gutters or a clean up, they usually want to pay right away.
