Any advise for advertising appriciated...

We are looking at maybe building a website for our lawncare and pressure cleaning business in the Western Carolina area. Would this be benifitial for this kind of business? Also, does anybody have any advise on picking up Business accounts. We just started our business last year and, it seems to be picking up well but, we want more of a comercial business. Any advertising ideas appriciated..

Mr. and Mrs. Moore:

A website can be a valuable tool. However, since landscaping is not a virtual service it is limited and must be accompanied by other forms of advertising. I don't use flyers, rather, I use business cards and distribute them in targeted neighborhoods (your website on your card can help. Discussing in detail your services on your website would be good if your business card has your URL).

Other methods that have been successful include small weekly newspapers (in my small town outside of Houston, we have 2 weekly papers that cost $50/month for a business card sized ad). Joining the local Chamber of Commerce can not only generate leads, many commercial, but also enables you to explore alternatives for Health Care and business insurance as many independant insurance agents are often very active in their chambers.

What I see as a fast moving trend in advertising is to pick out an easily remembered website name/address and PLASTER THAT WEBSITE all over your equipment, trucks, mowers, trailers .... Everything ... along with a big phone number BIG number ... put the phone number and website address on your employees T SHIRTS!!!!!!!!!!

Your website is a FREE electronic brochure .... get people over to your website ... use it as the selling tool that it is ....
