what should be in a quote discription of labour and materials or just what was done and the price.

It depends. If they ask for a detailed quote, give it to them, if not I wouldn't. Generally residential clients don't care, they just want a bill, commerical might want a detailed invoice incase they have problems with whatever you did and come back to question why things where done the way they where.

I keep a record of the labor and materials for myself, but like Scott said I do not give out a detailed quote unless it is specifically requested.Wayne
