Does anyone have ideas or something that they found that you can tell a bargin hunter? Or do you just have to play trial and error. I know some you can get from instinct or by talking to them that there is something that isn't quite right.

These guys will try to bargain with any quote you give them. Once they start this process I ask them;
-how many other quotes did you get
-can I see them
-lets compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges
-did they specify if they where going to use, then I name some popular brand name or I say, "will they be using Commercial grade or that stuff from Home Depot"
-who did you get the bids from, "never heard of them".
And if the other bidders are my buds I walk away regardless of how much I would like to have the contract. Then I call my bud up and tell them the other quotes incase he wants attempt to raise or lower his.
I can play their game too, kinda makes me laugh when I leave.

Show up to the location prepared and ready to do business. Act like you know everything and don't hesitate to talk. If you just stand there and wait for them to say something, thats bad communication skills and that alone could sink you.. Its better to be stupid and act smart, than it is to be smart and act stupid...
Throwing in some extra's can help to!
Just my thoughts!Steve
