What are my options in starting a business. I see many of you as LCO's. Are there any other options.

You'll have to define your question a bit more.
If you're asking if you should get a landscaper's license well that would depend on what your local county code is. Where I'm at if I'm mowing earth with big machinery then I'll need additional licenseing, if I'm just planting, creating beds, and mulching no additional license is required.
Irrigation is another aspect. You might have to test for this license. Once again check with your local county extention, they'll steer you in the right directing and they can be your best friend or your worst enemy if you don't play by their rules.
Landscape lighting is another area of good cash flow, normally the high class neighborhoods. I would suggest going to a lighting seminar so you can get out of the frame of mind of creating landing strips and offering accent lighting. Since it is low voltage, I would doubt if any additional licensing is required. If you do irrigation always, and I mean always offer lighting since you'll have the trenching equipment.
Tree removal is another avenue. Be care here though if you don't know what you're doing, stay away. Separate licenseing is probably required, you'll have to pull permits with all of the above make sure your insurance covers you, employees and most importantly the customer and bystanders FULLY. Stump grinding is another factor here locally and yes another license with more insurance coverage is required.

Hope this helps and if I missed your question entirely please restate.

      Scott,
You saved me from another question. I appreciate the info. But I am asking. I want to actually have my business recognized as LCO or etc. Is becoming an LCO the only way to be a true incorp. or co. or enterprise. See what I mean.

You should worry about building up a customer base & learning the trade before concerning yourself with heady business matters.

You can become an incorp., co, or enterprise selling paperclips online.

Most small companies start out as a single owner business. It is my understanding ,that is the best for taxes while you are small. You may change to a corp. or a LLC whenever you chose, you will then have to register with your state to be in good standing.

Your best bet is to talk to an accountant about your interest and plans for the future.
