  • Commercial Prices???

I am planning on obtaining some commercial contracts next season and need some help with pricing these class B and C type properties for yearly contracts.
Here are some examples if anyone could provide me with some good pricing help, I would love it.
All work is assumed with three man crew.
    1. McDonalds type restaurants-Takes one hour to mow each week and two to three times a year trim hedges and mulch, and that takes about 3 hours.

    2. Banks-About 5000 sq. ft. of lawn, takes about 1 hour or less to maintain grass and property areas. Hedge trimming takes about 3 hours with cleanup and mulch and is done two to three times per year.

    3. Neighborhood common areas-Takes half day to mow all grass areas and full day to do trimming of hedges, etc. with mulch?

    4. Small outdoor malls-Takes half day to mow, full day for all trimmings again with mulch three times a year.

We mow about 32 times a year here and the economy is strong in this area. I am getting into this area some how or other, so I would love help pricing. I read Nilson's book on getting commercial contracts, was great and truly informative. I recommend it to anyone. However, he says that most commercial props. will ask for references and I only have residentials to offer. So how can I penetrate this market? I love hearing from you guys, so I anticipate hearing from you all.
    Thanks in advance,

I only have two commercial peoperties right now but I am working on another (a private grade school). Some of the bid packages I have looked at require you to give at least 3 commercial references. What I plan on doing is to go to some of the small businesses like beauty shops, small doctors offices etc. This should help me get my foot in the door for references. I don't know if it will work but this is what I am planning. Networking also helps.

I have been doing mostly residential and have almost met my next years goal this year. Now that i have this cash base built and have replaced most of my older equipment with newer more versitile equipment I am ready to go into the bigger stuff.
