  • Best time for doorhanger

Hello. I live in north east west virginia and was going to start doorhangers this weekand. Is this too early? I was going to put them out on Friday? Saturday? and Sundays? from now until April. Would you hit a larger area or the smaller area two or three times?

i am starting my flyers this weekend in smaller suburbs.. upscale ones...

    as well as smaller neighborhoods...

i think this is the perfect time to start really...

but in my opinon, hit the smaller ones several times

      Hi kingstownquad,

Are you planning on distributing them again in the future as well?

I was going to hit the houses twice this year. Once early and then a second time later. It is going to snow here so i will have to hold off for today. I will start again next weekand. friday, saturday, sunday.

          wait, you mean you stopped?

I do flyers all year round. I picked up 12 new customers from December through today and I have 3 bids scheduled for Monday. Just my opinion, you should NEVER stop passing out flyers.

I agree with above. If it only gets you one account it will pay for the expences in just a month or so.

Let me put it to you this way. I pass out roughly 750 flyers per week every week all year round except between middle of January and end of March. During those times I pass out nearly 2,000 flyers per week.

I typically will speed walk through neighborhoods with my two teenagers put a very basic flyer stating my services and cover very large areas in a short time (mark the area on a map in a certain color) Then go back 1 week later to the same areas (mark the map again in a differant color) this time with flyers indicating price and stating I will be making appointments with them in the near future. Then the final time I hit a targeted neighborhood I take business card ( this is about 1 week after the second flyer) and my appointment calender and this time I knock and ask if they got my flyers. 90% of the time I get a "yes" I then say "have you ever considered having your lawn professionally maintained?" and go off what they say. Regardless of their answer I always finish with "since information is absolutely free and is the most important factor in making good decisions. When would be a good time to meet with you and your other half (if applys) so I can give you a free quote for the best lawn service in town."

very important to hit them with this 3 strike method. You will get less than 1% on the first round of flyers. Maybe 1% on the second round of flyers, but then on the third go around, (in a company shirt nice polo with company name belt maybe even a company hat) you can get OUTSTANDING response. Plus my favorite is, once I get a bid I always say "how about getting your first mowing for free?" they always say "cool" or "heck yeah" I say "OK, which of your neighbors do you think will take my service?" typically they have at least 1. I say "would you walk over and introduce me or call and set an appointment up for me." "If they decide to take advantage of my services I'll be happy to give you your first regular mowing for FREE" Word of mouth is the best advertising. Then once you have an appointment with the neighbor simply repeat the process.

I kid you not, the last week alone I have added 6 new yearly mowing accounts, two installs, 1 yearly fert contract and have 5 appointments for bids tomorrow. I get about 70% of the bids I do, my flyers right now say "I want to mow your lawn for FREE, call to find out why."

just some tips... happy hunting guys. You will only stop building your customer base when you stop trying. Words to live by.
