Should postcards include prices? I was thinking of giving prices for mowing on postcards. and including early bird speccial for signing up. 5 bags of hardwood mulch. They may realize they don't want to spread it and i can do that too? thougts'

if you're going to give away free mulch just go ahead and give your installation as well... giving 5 bags of mulch for a contract seems... wierd..

That is a good idea. Maybe i could do a free mulching if they sign up early.
My biggest concern is would i recover the cost. Maybe i could just give a price quote to do the lawn. And then say if you sign up early by ____X date
we will mulch your property for absolutely free.
      what do you think

I dont give anything away if you start giving away things then your losing money. I get my Mulch 50 yards at a time if you buy in bulk you get it cheaper and could cover your cost easier. But you still have to pay for the labor. Yeah you got a new customer but your out some $$$ because of it. Offer something that you would normally do anyways thats cheaper for you to buy like weed killer. You buy it anyway for your other yards why not use a couple ounces for the new yard. Its going to help your new lawn look better and your not out of pocket that much. Since mulch cost more make sure you cover your cost and marke it up a little then charge for the labor to put it out. Major money in mulch jobs. Dont give them away. Just my thoughts.

DO not include pricing on postcards for at least 2-reasons:

          1) How can you price a job without knowing what customer wants, or without measuring and looking at the site.
          2) You will give away your pricing to competition

            Hi kingstownquad,

I have seen this done when the price was tied to a sq ft sized area. I remember the card had three prices for different lawn size ranges and then a disclaimer saying something to the effect of additional fees may apply.
