  • Advertising in High-end Res.

I know of the different methods of advertising and just wanted some feedback on this. For the higher end residential neighborhoods you don't wanna do anything that makes the community look bad.....such as posting fliers on the mailboxes. So, I thought about door handle hangers........the problem there is, that many people don't use the front door frequently...they go through garage or back door. Then, there is the mass mailings.......too expensive for me at the moment.

So what is you take on this.......does it matter if there are fliers on mailboxes when the average house is over 500,000?? Could I get some feedback from those of you that have done this for awhile.

    thanks.

i would consider taking a day or two and just going door to door and telling them about your services and ask if the would be interested in you giving them a free estimate right then and there. also leave them with a business card and ask them to pass your name on of anyone who they may know that would be interested in any of your services. i did this when i first started out and the results were unbelievable in one neighborhood and somewhat good in another. just look and act very professional. i don't have any experience in the type of neighborhood which you are talking about though. when advertising just be creative!

I work the same type neighborhood outside of DC. (where are you working?). I use doorknob hangers from NEBS.COM. Very professional looking. I put them on the doorknob. You can also put them on the handle to the garage door, but the way I look at it most of them have automatic openers and will be turned off for having to get out of the car to get your advertisement.

The doorknob hangers for me have returned 2-3 percent. Not bad for the minimal cost and effort for putting them out. Very congested neighborhood. We're putting out 2500 this year.

      Good luck

Check to see if you have to register in that area first to solicit any of your services.

I like the idea of several different flyers for different neighborhoods with different income levels...it makes sense to tailor your marketing approach to your market. For example, i have a friend in a high end neighborhood who constantly gets flyers and direct mail from companys like BMW, PORCHE, Neiman Markus....I live in an apartment and i get stuff from Kmart, Wallmart etc etc. If the big guys do it there must be something to it....

I went to Nebbs.com and cant believe the prices..unreal..way too much..59 cents per postcard for 5000? try www.postcardwarehouse.com I think youll be surprised at the pricing and the quality. 5000 of the same quality postcards are only 6cents each...quite a difference. 5000 quality doorhangers are only $279...
I work with a gentleman named Bob and he has been exceptional in helping me establish my message, my look and my target market. I am going to order doorhangers as well as do a postcard mail out.....a double pronged attack. They will send you samples of their work as well.

            anyway, hope this helps...good luck.

              Ken,

I haven't used the postcardwarehouse, are they good quality doorknob hangers? NEBS is more expensive, that is correct. For the same 300 dollars (approx including shipping) you get about a thousand more hangers.

I've used NEBS two years now. Extremely high quality, thick card stock and each hanger has a detachable business card.

I've been impressed with NEBS, but if you have used the other please let me know what the features are and if you think their quality matches NEBS.

SUNRISE, I'm not familiar with that area, but if it is high class/high dollar, make sure your operation is the same.

                Sunrise,
I'm on the North side of town and in the same boat. I don't think the other responders know just how bad soliciting is frowned upon 'round here. Personally, I don't think hangers are very professional and surely don't like people knockin at my door or calling me for work. There does not seem to be many high end LS talk around here. Shoot me an Email, I'd like to hear how you're goin about things.( Just stay on your side of town )just kiddin!

I am already on your side of town. I meant I'm in the southeast region of the US, but northside of atl. we may be competitors![:0]

I beleive the door hangers look more professional than folding a flier and sticking it where the flag of the mailbox is though. I agree that not many people really know how bad soliciting is.....especially in the primary county i'm in. i'll let you know what i go with.
