  • Commercial Contracts

Hey Everyone!!! I have a couple of questions about trying to obtain some commercial accounts.

When trying to obtain commercial accounts, do you present a estimate even without knowing if they are interested in a new contactor, or do you specifically advertise for commercial accounts.

I would really like to obtain some commercial accounts and I really haven't figured out the best way to approach the customer. I know lots of people go door to door but i just didn't think that would be very presentable.

i simply walk into a prospective clients business ask to speak to whomever takes care of the lawn, shake their hand and give them my card. i have found you have two situations you will come across, either they are happy with who they have and they will politly take your card, or they are they are looking for the best price and will ask you for a bid. Face to face is always best. I make it a practice to contact all new customers after the first cut to make sure everything is to their satisfaction. they are almost always surprised, it goes a long way to make you look good.

      hey lawnut,
im sorry i dont have any answers for you as im in the same boat you are. I to am looking for some productive way to get in the door of quality jobs.

iam a water well contractor and in this business the yellow pages have paid off. however i think in lawn maint. im going to have to come up with a different approach. I think for res. im going to target areas i want to work in with fliers, door hangers, and the like. im thinking with com. i might just look for properties that are not well kept and confront whos in charge about doing the work. but then that would put me on prop. that dont look very well and i could get the blame. like i said, i got to think about this. i do know this, that when i do speak with someone i will be well dressed, have a bus card and possibly a brochure for them. i will not cut down the other company or be negative in any way. i will compliment them on anything i can find that can be spoken positively about and will tell them how my company will keep the place in a beautiful and healthy condition.

just a couple of opinions and ideas, but whatever you do dont quit, thats a guarantied failure, and besides, you can do it.
