  • It's all in the name!

I need help with my company name.
I am trying to decide on:
    ---A--Premier, Quality, Diversified,
    then I cant decide on
---B--Lawncare, Lawnservices, Outdoor Services or Lawn Maintenance
---C--should I add of Tennessee to the end
Could you help, by matching A to B to C or givng another suggestion.

I'd try to get away from the norm. Every town has a Premeir Landscaping or Quality Lawncare. Too easy to get your name mixed up with another when they're talking bad about the other guys.

I do not suggest names that are used all the time like A1, Fast, Quick or most of all "Joe's Lawnservice". Use a name that is a name catcher like Lawn Rangers, Sta Green, GrassMaster. and etc. This will definitely help you be noticed. Remember keep it simple and professional as possible.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">

It should identify what you do and also set you apart from the others.
    ie.,
    Anderson's Outdoor Management
    Anderson's Outdoor Solutions
would say so much more than Premier Lawn Maintenance of Tennessee

      zeke,
I would go with something like Premier Land Management. Tends to kinda broaden your scope of service from just lawn service.

        zeke,
Oh, one more thing. Check with something like www.doubledomains.com and see if the name you choose is still available as a web site. You never know, you might want to put up a website one day when you get all big and fancy. I would suggest that if the name is still available you go ahead and purchase the name. It's like $15 for a two year lease on the domain name. That protects you from someone else buying it out from underneath you.

          Zeke,
I would go with your last name, Anderson Lawnservices, this is going to be like one of your children you will take great pride in it why not personalize it. Anderson will also be in the begining of the alphabet in the phone book. Just my thoughts on the isue
we never truly grow as a person or acomplish anything until we step out of our comfort zone.

Pick a name that describes your services. For example, my company name is Clean Cut Lawn Service. In another month it will be Clean Cut Lawn INC. My reason for choosing the name is I wanted to let customers know what quality of service they would receive and from whom they would be receiving it. I would definately stay away from A+ or Bob's. They are too generic and are commonly used for multiple types of businesses painting, plumbing, ect. Try to pick a name that has something to do with the lawn industry. I would stay away from using your name as the company name only because if you decide to sell the business some day, the new owner probably won't want your last name as the company name. Just my thought. As for the last part of your name, make it as short as possible. Don't use things like lawn mowing service and landscape company. See what I mean? It is just too long. Remember, you will have to put this name on trucks, letter heads and other business related items, so make it short sweet and simple. Good Luck

I chose the name Taybritt because it is unique and because it is a combination of my daughters' names...Taylor and Brittany. They get a kick out of having the business named after them. I figured it was better than using my last name...anything with Brown and Lawns would not go over too well [].

Being the smart-alek that I am, when I started this business, my wife asked me what I was going to name it. I said "One Guy and a Goat Lawnservice". To my surprise, she thought it was a great name...gimmicky to attract attention. I agreed that it would be a name you could remember, but I was looking for the long run effect and wanted to portray a professional image. The wife, who is an artist (painting and sketching), said she would paint the words "The Goat" and an outline of a mountain goat on my mowers. LOL

Hopefully after tomorrow, I will change the name to make it shorter. Tomorrow I will take the Texas state exam for my irrigator license. I will then change the name to Taybritt Landscape and Irrigation...not much shorter, but a bit. I have a friend of mine from church, who is a professional graphic artist, doing my new logo. I will post it when it is completed. Another friend from church who does professional signage (he did all the signs for Six Flags Astroworld and Waterworld) will do my new vinyl signs for my truck (and trailer when I get it). I think Zack will be proud of me...one less scrub point since I currently use magnetics [].

Actually, my registered dba name is just Taybritt, so even though I may change the signage, it will not impact bank accounts, sales tax license, etc.
