You should be able to get all of your equipment covered on a contractors policy ( that is what it is called around here ). And you should also be able to get that through the same insurance company and agent that you have for your truck insurance. Can not help you out on rates cause i am not in the same area, just get a few quotes from different agents. Also you should have your truck under a commercial auto policy and not your personal if you are using it for working purposes, some policies will not cover that trailor if you are under a personal policy and are hauling work related equipment. Just protect yourself!!!

thanks for coming in there. Intresting. I checked with my insurance company and was told they did not insure lawnmowers and equipment. The trailer was covered, liability only while attached to the vehicle. And gear could be covered for loss at 50% cost of the trailer. Gotta keep looking. Maybe check with the
hustler dealer to see what he recommends. What are you guys paying for rates and who insures you? Got to get soon!"you cannot discover new oceans unless you have the courage to loose sight of the shore"

captken,
You can go to http://www.insurancefinder.com and request a quote for general liability insurance. You should receive at least a couple of quotes from different companies on insuring your company. You can also check with http://www.blackburninsurance.com for a quote. That is who carries our insurance.
Hope this helps,
Curtis

Erie is one of the premier insurance carriers for small businesses. I have all mine through them. They do call it a business package, whcih includes your liability (1 mil) and equipment coverage, among other things like up to $50,000 of negligable loss. I hear a lot of guys say not to insure your equipment. If someone steals a trimmer, well, you probably won't report it anyway. But what if you wake up one day and your whole trailer load is gone. Or you hit someone in your truck and wipe out your whole trailer load. Then, not only will your business be in big trouble, but you might go belly up, since you can't afford to buy all new equipment. Also, trucks technically shoudl be covered under a commerical policy. If you were to get in an accident, you may not be covered if they deem you were running your business with it. And insurance surveyors probably get a kick back for every incident they avoid paying, so they will look into it. It all comes down to how do you sleep at night...Peacefully or with one eye open watching your trailer out back.
