Not a whole lot of experence with it, but seems to be over kill for a lawn company. I use Quick books basic, it has [] I need to handle all my customers and venders. You can do alot with basic. If you find Basic does not work for your needs you can always upgrade at a later time. Hope that helps.

I use quickbooks pro. And it works fine for me. Try the basic first, like fritz posted, then get a upgrade if needed.

I use QuickBooksPRo and like it. Only NEGATIVE, if you have employees (like I do) they nail you every year to "update" the tax tables. If you don't, it won't calculate taxes on paychecks. I think it is $169 for the update, which really sucks. I hate software companies, they are all gready SOB's!

I started using Quickbooks Pro this year and it seems to work well so far.

I bought QuickBooks basic at my local Staples because it links to my Wintac software. After fiddling with it, I needed to call their CS dept. I was then told that there was a rebate on Quickbooks Pro for Basic users. I just had to return the basic when pro arrived - and Pro turned out to be cheaper than the Basic because of the rebate!!!

Shop around for lawn industry specific software FIRST - many of them now include accounting software. Be sure you know the space requirements on your hard drive. An old computer may not be able to handle the size of this program.

My version of quickbooks pro is so old it will be voting in the next presidential election. However I am curious if it handles machines any better. I would like to find a way within Quickbooks to analyze equipment costs from year to year. this would seems picky, but I feel that analyzing costs for equipment cost, repair cost, and fuel and other consumables gives a better handle on equipments overall condition. I did find a program that would allow me to track those types of things. It was able to handle equipment, building, toolroom, and a whole lot more. Unfortunately it was about $15,000 and from the demo they insisted on sending me, it was hard to use, and one person would do nothing but program the stuff in all week long.

Anyone tried this type of traking with positive results?
