maybe the guy needed gas money to get to work. If he has beed out of work for a little while maybe he just needs the money, maybe his kids were going to bed hungry (i hope not). You took the chance to hire this guy and you hope he makes a good employee, cut him a little slack give him a advance of $100 it might be the best investment you ever make.Triple D

I've run a crew, and run multiple crews in several different trades and this is a common occurance. If you're gonna be in the contracting biz you better get used to it. I always loan my guys money if they need it and they've always paid me back. Just a sidenote, I feel confident saying that the people who have worked for me in the past have shown me a great deal of respect.
I would've loaned it to him without giving it a thought.

That $10 you made on him getting that $50 early probably just cost you a lot of money. When someone thinks (in this case, knows) they're getting done wrong, do you really think they're going to go out and work extra hard for you? Heck no! But, if you would've given him the $50 and said, "it's a payday advance and thanks for your hard work," he would've worked extra hard for you just to say thanks. At least, that's what Ive found ith my employees. Do them right, and theyll do you right. Do them wrong, and you will get done wrong.
