  • Part time lawn Service Advice?

Hi, Im looking to start a part time lawn service cutting 8 to 10 lawns a week to supplement my income.

Im unsure on the legal liabilities involved, and if I need to register a Business DBA in my state of New jersey?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

i disagree 100%. stagger, you need to get a license, commercial and business insurance for your own protection. even being small and partime you can make a good chunk of change. your first year might not be that great depending on your start up costs, but after that you should make a nice profit. i did it partime for two years and only had about 10 or so mowing accounts which were done on saturdays plus i did mulching and a few other things and made good $$$ even after my costs. go for it, but do it the right way and spend what is best for your situation. above all......... read this forum cause there is alot of good info. here.

By being licensed , you will also be able to write off many of your start up ,operating and other business related costs.
