  • ATTN: Computer guys.....I need help

If I up load a picture from the net am I able to change the resolution of that picture. I am getting flyers postcards printed and my resolution is not high enough, so I need to know if it can be changed.

    Thanks for any help.

No, that won't work very well. You can change the resolution, but that won't do much of anything. You can change the number of pixels in the width and height, but all it does is split an original pixel in half. So it won't look any better if the detail wasn't there in the first place.

Are these your photos you are starting with?

It really depends on the size of the photo you have. How many pixels wide is it?

I would suggest finding a higher resolution pic on the net. Google the type of pic you are looking for, you should be able to find something. who is handling your printing? check out http://www.affordablepromoting.com/brochures.htm .

For what it's worth, it is illegal to take a photo off the internet and print it for your own use. Especially for commercial use.

There are many sites out there that will sell you a nice quality photo that is high res. They are called stock images and many many businesses use them for advertising. If you must use someone elses photo, go look for a good one that someone made up specifically for what you need.

        Example:

There are cheap places and there are more expensive places as well. If you go through a company that prints up door hangers or postcards, many will send you links like the above to choose a photo. They will likely pay for it for you because they have an account there and get them for much cheaper.

I take my own photos, but those 2 sites I posted were sent to me last year from the guys that did my door hangers. They may have sent me some others if you need them.

And for the record... Erich is a GREAT photo guy! But he SURE AS HELL is NOT a computer guy! Nope, not even CLOSE!

I must agree with Woody on this one! I don't know the internal runnings of a computer.

But I do know about using, shrinking, enlarging photos.

Your best bet is to take your own high res photo or buy one. Upsizing and printing a low res photo won't look good.

Thanks for the help guys. I was trying to save some money designing my own flyers for the up coming season but quickly found out that it is just more trouble than its worth to me. I just assume paying somebody to do it. Thanks again!
