  • Advertising: Cutting right to the chase!

I'm going to make this real simple, clear, and concise.

Some people put FAR TOO MUCH importance on the "appearance" of how you advertise, rather than the RESULTS of your advertising.

It does not matter who thinks your advertising is silly, beneath your company, gives you a bad image, etc. All that matters is whether or not you are getting results!

If standing on your head in the nude at the busiest intersection in your city or town, with a lit sparkler shoved up your ass, GETS YOU CUSTOMERS, then it is an EFFECTIVE METHOD OF ADVERTISING! If it WORKS, don't let ANYONE talk you out of it!

Just be careful where those sparks fall.

In all seriousness, I have seen a guy who sells mattresses stand outside of his store, almost all day, EVERY day, for a decade now, dressed in a cheap gorilla suit. He waves at everyone who drives by. I am not kidding either. This "tacky" method MUST work for him, otherwise he would have been out of business years ago.

For those who are old enough... Think back to what had to be the stupidest commercials EVER made. Earl Scheib. You remember those? Earl Scheib is now America's largest owned and operated Auto Paint and Body Repair Company.

It seems like "Hi, I'm Earl Scheib... I'll paint any car, any color, for 49.95... No ups, no extras" turned into quite an enterprise.

yeah you need to find what works for you. Whatever you can do to put your name on the customers mind can be tricky.
We have a chiropractor that has a bale of straw outside of his office. One month it's designed as a pumpkin, next is a turkey, next is rudolph with lighted nose, etc... I'll see if I can post some pics.

I prefer the wooden sparklers. The old school metal ones are like welding rods.
