Bulk Mail/Fliers & Door Hangers

I figured that I would share my research with others that are new to this or havent gotten this far along in their own research.

Bulk Mail is by permit only. Cost: $160 up front + $160/yr to keep
First timers this means $320 before you mail a thing.
***All that mail that comes bulk rate to your house addressed to
"Current Resident" with your address was sold from an old database
the only relevent info is the address. The USPO does not sell addresses.
Rural delivery to Postal Customer is available outside city limits.

Fliers and Door Hangers.... I am undecided about how much bang for my buck. I have to do some more on my own here to find out more about local printing on card stock if I do my own fliers for door to door distro... but there are several companies on the net that make door hangers affordable. If you do anything door to door... please take the time to record the street name and house numbers for future mailing. It wont take that much more time to build your own mailing list while you are out. I recorded 3 streets maybe 60 houses on my way back from the Barber today alone in about 5 or 6 minutes.

www.vistaprint.com does post cards but they are more affordable once you have registered and they have a "clearance sale".

www.centuryprinting.com is the most affordable place that I have found (referred to by another forum member) for door hangers. They even have free samples they will send you.

Hope this helps those that are new and looking for ways to get their name there.

Wow i didnt think it was that much but it make sense. Thats an awsome idea to just do it the old fashion way with you eyes and a pen and paper.

I also checked with the local post office here and the Postmaster told me the same (320.00) before I mail a thing. She told me that it is legal to put stuff in the newspaper tubes, so I made up 50 flyers and attached my bus.card with a paper clip to them and went out put in the tubes. It took me about 20 min. to do 50. This is just a test to see what kind of response I get out of it.

All you need is http://www.vistaprint.com/vip for a discount from the get-go. I've ordered many products through vistaprint and have been satisfied everytime.

Compile your own mailing list on a Word label document. Save the files according to sections - meaning if you only want to send a mailing to a certain section of town you can print off those particular labels without much fustration. I used a reserve address lookup from whitepages.com before to create my own mailing list of over 1000 addresses. Just type in the street name and zip code - BOOM, you have all the addresses listed on that street. DO NOT USE names on the labels though.....many pieces will be returned because it's undeliverable with that name. Instead, address it to "Our friends at." (more personal than "Current Resident.")
