  • Cancelling A Client

In my contract I state a 2 week cancellation policy. I have a client I want to get rid of . Now for my question: How should I word the letter? What do I need to put in there to make it legit.

    Here's the issue:
I took on this customer and gave him a low price (silly me- I know).
He lives out of state and only comes down once a year. Well the pool guy would leave the hose on and flood the yard, so I sent a letter to my customer stating the situation and the difficulty this could cause on maintaining the lawn. No response just continued payments. Well now it seems there is a major problem a constant 6 inch of flowing water is coming from the pool pump area. I've decided not to say anything else to him about it . So please help with some "cancellation letter" ideas.

    Thanks

For what it's worth, have you tried to call him and speak with him about it?

Maybe mention that your rates need to go up if you feel that something is changing the original bid?

Either way, I would give a 30 day notice, that just seems fair.

Legally? Well, that depends on what your initial contract said. If it says a written notice must be given, that's it. Just make sure he actually gets the letter.

A 2 week notice isn't very long, especially if the guy lives out of state. And in reality, it's not his fault up until now. So you might want to talk to him and tell him he needs to find someone at the end of 30 days.

You probably shouldn't take advice from me, since I'm been known to bi+ch out clients when I fire their butts; however.....

      Keep it simple and short.
