I've got a customer that basically refuses to pay their bill. They won't come to the door or answer the phone. Normally if it's not too much money I just eat it, but this one is almost $300. Is there anything that I can do to get the money that I may be missing?

Here's a gorilla methods that works well. Find out where they work and when they are on lunch break or otherwise out of the office. Call their office, knowing they are not there, and when the person answering the phone ask if you want to leave a message, simply say yes and to tell them you need to collect for the job you've done and to send a check to your address. Its an especially effective technique if you can get into some small talk with whomever answers the phone telling them how much work you had to do for the deadbeat and how tight things are. I've used it several time for anything from delinquent rent to bad checks and its been 100%.

File a lein on their property. When the time comes and they need to settle in order to sell their house or re-fi, make yourself unavailable to them and or their title company for as long as you can. Could be they loose the sale on their house or catch a higher interest rate on the re-fi because of timing. Pay back can be a beotch in spades.

Skip the games. Type up a letter demanding payment within so many days. Tell them if you don't receive payment in full by that date you will turn to more aggressive legal means to reconcile their account (meaning collections, lien, and/or small claims court). Send letter via certified mail. This works most of the time. Just gotta let them know you don't play around (most lawn guys doooooo). In the mean time, quit mowing their lawn until you get paid. :alien::alien::alien:

I got them to pay for two months, so it turns out to be $160 out of $280. I can sorta justify the money cause it really was only a $60 a month lawn that I was getting $80 for. And I never actually made it to the weeklys on it either. I guess overall I made money.Originally posted by coles220 View Postso did you ever get paid

Yeah, you're probably one of those clowns who'll still mow in rain, tires flinging water, all while leaving brown lines all over the lawn. That's something to be proud of. :alien::alien::alien:Originally posted by spotremix View Postdon't give me rain day bullsheot either cause even with rain i usually still manage to get 4 cuts in in a month.
