I'm new to the biz and haven't had much luck with the local newspaper ad,150.00 for 28 days. Maybe 5 good calls and accounts. The rest have been a joke. People lie, have sob stories, the grass isn't in bad shape,want a estimate on the phone,you get out there and hasn't been cut since last fall. They may call but when you call back they've just went down the two dozen list or so and found someone else. I've heard it all. Now I have had some luck with fliers, but word of mouth and people flagging me down. Waste of money in my opinion. Wait till it gets in the plus nintys. I would be will to bet the newbe's will be dropping like flies, folks who aren't used to the heat will ringing the phone off the wall.

I run 5" ads. They run $550 a month. Your ad stands out. Also the cheap people tend not to call you. NO PHONE QUOTES !!!!! If i get the impression theyre shopping for the cheapest quote i tell them straight up theres cheaper out there. Also a 5" produces alot of mulch and scapes. I havent cared much for mowing since i started running it. I have about 2000 in it this year but ive grossed probally 60,70000 off it.
