who do you use? I basically want a service that will allow me to accept credit cards on a pay-per-charge basis - no monthly fee. Who will do this at the cheapest rate with the best service? etc

Don't know of any that will do this, posting to see any replies from someone that does.
Have you asked at your own bank?

The monthly fees (terminal and percentage charges from sales) are small enough to include them in your price to retrieve costs, the advantages far outweigh the costs ... cash flow, 48 hour money, the monthly fee I think is under $50 for the terminal, then the percentage of sales.

Like Phil said, get the full-blown credit card acceptance system. I have customers put 12K on a card. Do what ever it takes to book the sale. Field personnel can Nextel in the numbers to the office for processing / acceptance, and seal the deal on the spot for down payments, add-ons, up sells, ect.

People are using cards much more than ever before and the trend is your friend, so go with it and watch it work. Strike when the irons hot.

That's for sure ... what sodbuster said ....

"People are using cards much more than ever before and the trend is your friend, so go with it and watch it work. Strike when the irons hot."

If you send a bill in the mail ... who do you think has time to "find it" in a pile of other bills, open it, remember it ... write a check, find a postage stamp ...stuff it into an envelope ... drop it in a mail box? ... and do you really think that your "pay by date" has any impact .... WHATSOEVER??????

          Are you crazy or what?

P.S. I myself run accounts payable from several vendors/suppliers in town ... what I tell them is this .... DON'T BILL ME .... I don't want to have to keep track of it ... just call me when it's due ... I don't have time to fool around with the accounting for due bills ... call me on my cell when it's time you get paid ... period!
