I will be putting in a bid for a private school's football field for next season. What I was wondering is if anyone else mows football fields? What is an average price range? What kind and size of equipment do you run for the mowing of your football field?

I mow my schools soccer field. Getting $55/cut for it. Takes about 1 1/2 hours with 54" ZTR, trimming, and blowing.. I know, not alot but they are also doing some advertising for me. My name is listed as a sponsor on the press box, and the girl's really dig my stripes!!!!:pSteve

Also check with the coach about the mowing schedule, when we did them had to be very flexible to have fields ready for play and sometimes this meant delaying a cutting or doing extra mowing to have a field ready for an upcoming event. In addition, the fields were irrigated with those travelling sprinklers so sometimes this caused us to change or modify schedule ... and the irrigation often caused us to delay mowing so that the fields would not be rutted from mowing if they had not dried out enough beforehand. Sometimes you'd end up with excess clippings to mow over or get rid of, sometimes not. If I had to do it all over again, I would have done it strictly on hourly basis not fixed but extra time and care is needed if in fact the field is a "serious field" and one that is to be top notch. But ... schools we dealt with needed a not-to-exceed fixed price so ... any extra work impacted bottom line. Flexibility is the word that comes to mind
